
In a country where gold is given a level of importance bordering on reverence, every other commodity of value is thrown under the shadow of the yellow metal be it as an investment or as part of traditional rituals. A situation that Preeti Agrawal, a gemologist and jewellery designer, believes is the result of people “not being educated on the topic of gemstones or crystals.”
Preeti graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in Mumbai in 2009. Discovering her love for rough stones, she decided to carve a niche for herself in it. “I was passing by a jewellery store and encountered rough stones. That was my calling,” she recalls. When the pull of gemstones became more pronounced, Preeti made a life-changing decision.
